Tjaart Esterhuyse is an actuary with 35 years of experience in insurance and reinsurance. He is currently Operations Steward at Rabia, with expertise in strategy, client engagement, and business development. Tjaart spent 12 years as Managing Director of RGA Reinsurance Company of South Africa, a subsidiary of the Reinsurance Group of America. During his tenure, he managed the full P&L, led strategic growth, and built client relationships. Under his leadership, RGA South Africa ranked first on the NMG Business Capability Index for 11 out of 12 years and achieved nearly 20% annual premium growth. He also headed the EMEA RGAX innovation team, driving insurance innovation and partnerships across the region. Tjaart served as President of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (2022–2023) and previously held leadership roles at Metropolitan South Africa. He currently serves as a non-executive director on several boards and as a member of the Council for Medical Schemes.
